We had a special visit from Paula from The Dogs Trust. Paula came to talk to the children during assembly and then held workshops in classes. The children learnt how to stay safe around all dogs, especially those they know and interact with at home, as this is where dog bites are most likely to occur. It was brilliant to hear what behavioural science has taught us and to learn the ABCs of being a dog’s best friend: show dogs affection in ways they understand; when dogs are busy, give them space; and give dogs choice in every interaction. The children loved acting either as the dog or the owner and had lots of fun reflecting on strategies with dogs they know. Thank you to Paula and the Dogs Trust for a very interesting and informative day.
